Sustainability

AgroFair provides sustainability in 3 certified flavours:
1. Fairtrade
2. Fairtrade Organic
3. Organic

Together with our customers AgroFair is continuing to set the standard.  The Key subjects that AgroFair works on are: Water, Air, Forest & Biodiversity, Soil, Waste, CO₂ & other GHG, Energy, Transport and of course People.

For example: together with El Guabo (Ecuador) we set the goal to produce a conventional Fairtrade banana in harmony with nature. The organic production system was the basis and resulted in a banana  that would  require NO use of herbicides or nematicides and only a minimum use of chemicals (for protection against Sigatoka only). Even all postharvest treatments are organic. That makes the conventional bananas produced by El Guabo the cleanest in the industry. But perhaps even more importantly:  it allows fruit production under safer working conditions. One could argue that these bananas take Fairtrade to the next level. Fruitful, tasteful and respectful for producer, customer and consumer.
